Make the Constitution Great Again

“The federal government is a behemoth, weaponized against American citizens and conservative values, with freedom and liberty under siege as never before. This volume puts in one place a consensus view of how major federal agencies must be governed.” – Project 2025

Controversy surrounding a conservative plan of action called Project 2025, kicked off the remaining months of the 2024 Presidential election as Democrats and the corporate media began cherry-picking and then misinterpreting provisions of the plan.  Available in either book form or in PDF format online, Project 2025’s call for a return to a constitutional government was instead repackaged as authoritarianism, cloaked in Christian nationalism, and white supremacy.   Viewing Republicans, and especially Trump, as a threat to the Democrat’s version of democracy, supporting media sites all demagogued the project as an end to America as we know it.

Instead, Project 2025 was simply the ninth edition playbook, created for the incoming administration from conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation.  Since its inaugural “Mandate for Leadership“, a plan first executed by Ronald Reagan following his first election in 1980, the prevailing principle is to reduce the size and scope of the federal government to those outlined in the Constitution.  As stated by Project 2025, the quadrennial guide was ultimately designed to hold politicians accountable.  Over 60 percent of their recommendations were implemented during Trump's first term.

In “Mandate for Leadership 2025”, a group of more than 35 conservative policy experts and scholars created a nearly 900-page outline of the departments of the federal government, their responsibilities, and opportunities for improvement.  To shrink the overgrown federal government, the Heritage Foundation also prepared a 180-day action plan for the incoming president’s first six months in office.  Four broad policy goals reflect the urgent need to restore the family subverted by the centralizing power of the federal government, dismantle the Administrative State managed by unelected bureaucrats, defend American sovereignty from open border policies and globalism, and secure our God-given rights from the constant attacks from Democrats.

The nuclear family is the most important defense against poverty in America.  Statistics abound on the challenges brought to children born out of wedlock, and in particular, homes without fathers.  As such, conservatives look to promote family stability and values.  Agenda items include the elimination of marriage penalties from the tax code and a pro-life stance that expands support for crisis pregnancies, prenatal care, and adoption.  The overturning of Roe v. Wade successfully returned the debate over abortion to the states under federalism, while Democrats vow to return it to federal jurisdiction.  School administrators and teachers are increasingly working outside the bounds of parents, using indoctrination in the areas of transgender and queer policies, critical race theory, and climate activism. Proposed policies include a Parental Bill of Rights to allow parents to reclaim lost autonomy over their children.

The unelected and unconstitutional administrative state, also known as the deep state, continues to make policy decisions outside of Congress.  Unaccountable to the public, few limits are slowing their lavish spending and accumulation of power.  Advancing the progressive policies of DEI has jeopardized every conceivable sphere from the military to the corporate boardroom, and education, as merit is replaced with goals of proportional representation.  Project 2025 calls for reaffirming the separation of powers, reducing the scope of Presidential executive orders that bypass Congress, and returning more power to the state.  Market-based solutions in areas like healthcare and energy will promote economic growth, by returning money to the people and businesses that created them.  In addition to continuing tax reform, and deregulation, Project 2025 looks to close down illegitimate bureaus and offices, including the Department of Education.

As the Biden administration has purposefully brought in nearly 20 million illegal immigrants, by some estimates, how to deal with their presence must be addressed.  In the name of national security and national sovereignty, conservatives vow to secure the border once again, enforce existing immigration laws, and prioritize American interests, including American workers over all other considerations.  In addition to a return to building a wall, policy provisions call for mass deportation of recent arrivals and others who continue to break American laws.

The biggest dilemma for America continues to be how to return an overgrown government to its Constitutional limits.  In 2021, after purchasing Twitter, Elon Musk fired nearly 80 percent of its workforce, leading to the elimination of unproductive make-work jobs.  Project 2025 follows its lead, by recommending the abolition of thousands of civil service jobs, many without purpose or justification.  With 35 trillion in debt, the federal government can no longer afford such luxuries.   In addition to the goal of a smaller federal footprint, and more autonomy back to the states, policy experts also hope to shift more accountability to the private sector.  As the wealth-producing segment of society, more money will be put back into the hands of the public to make decisions in their own best interests.

The only thing shocking about Project 2025’s provisions is how far they fall from the progressive ideals for American society, with the government serving as caretaker for all American lives.  To undo the damage, implementing Project 2025 suggestions will counteract many longstanding progressive policies, and return the United States to a country our founders envisioned.
