“It's no coincidence that cons tend to thrive in the wake of disaster: natural disaster, illness, economic disaster, national disaster, personal disaster…Fear is one of the con artist's great friends.” – The Confidence Game
As the morning after dawns, the damage done by the Coronavirus and the official governmental responses will finally be subjected to the light of day. The deaths, the cases, the hospitalizations, the lockdowns, the mask mandates, and the PCR testing cycles, for starters. The obvious lack of correlation between the dual strategy of lockdowns and masking vs. the path of the virus has been prominently exhibited in one chart after another. Nations and states that were locked down hard showed the same trajectory as those that did not. In the US, the media, federal bureaucrats, the medical community, and politicians all used fear to justify continued draconian measures throughout 2020. And they duped the public to make it happen.
The virus itself, of course, was not the con. The virus was real and has taken the lives of many loved ones worldwide. The con was the response. By every measure, the virus had its own way, regardless of policy or mandate, reflected in the completely random results collected over the past year. Yet, that didn’t stop the federal, state, and local governments from refusing to divert from their original positions, even when its folly became evident. Among the familiar faces were Dr. Fauci, state governors (blue and red), with a major assist from social media platforms, and of course, the consent of the American sheeple.
Deception is nothing new. There have been con artists since the beginning of time. From the serpent in the book of Genesis to every clairvoyant, snake oil salesman, and pyramid schemer. Now, modern-day charlatans come airbrushed in HDTV. The beauty is, that these swindlers never steal from their victims, they merely draw them in and make them partners in their own demise. With the sleight of hand and the power of a compelling story, they tap emotions and manipulate desires. By establishing trust, and feigning sympathy, con men of all stripes, turn an unsuspecting mark into a true believer.
With the coronavirus, the con began with fear. Data manipulation, first through the altered medical protocol of death certificates, and then reinforced with exploding chyron case counts, resulted in a thoroughly misled public. A Gallup survey showed that 70 percent of Democrats believed that 20 to 50 percent of COVID patients ended up in the hospital when the reality was somewhere between 1 to 5 percent. This is not surprising when 90 percent of COVID reporting was determined to be negative in the US, versus a more balanced 51 percent internationally. Days and months of hysterical reporting made viewers susceptible to distortions. These tactics resulted in longer lockdowns with the devastating result of higher death rates, higher unemployment, higher suicide rates, higher depression rates, higher drug overdose fatalities, and an increase in missed cancer screenings.
Alternatively, in Florida, their governor took a focused protection approach as outlined in the “Great Barrington Declaration”, using their resources to safeguard those at highest risk, the elderly. Despite having the second-highest senior population in the country, CDC data shows that Florida's death rate among the elderly was 20 percent less than California’s and 50 percent less than New York’s, even as we have yet to discover the extent of Governor Cuomo’s nursing home coverup. Cuomo, ignoring the advice of experts, put COVID-positive people into nursing homes, where the most vulnerable group resides, and then attempted to cover up the increasing deaths. Can we ever forgive Fauci for singling out Cuomo, as the governor who did the best job in handling the COVID crisis?
Then, even as Fauci in a July 2020 podcast, called PCR testing cycles above 35, “ridiculous” due to increased sensitivity, medical labs continued to use PCR levels of 37-40 to detect COVID infections. This led a former Chief Scientific Advisor for Pfizer, to claim that “nearly half or even almost all” of the case counts could be unnecessary false positives. Governments and their media accomplices, of course, used these seemingly accelerating COVID numbers to justify further lockdowns and extended mask mandates. Then, on the day of Biden’s inauguration, the WHO came out and bemoaned the large number of false positives. Now, as they assess the infection rates following the vaccine, the CDC is using PCR levels of 28. All without any questions asked or answered.
In Maria Konnikova’s 2016 book, “The Confidence Game”, Konnikova exposes the tricks behind the con. How the mark is chosen, baited, hooked, and then thoroughly fleeced. Through a series of vignettes, Konnikova shares con stories from around the globe, revealing the lengths that not only the cons will go, but their victims as well, to keep their delusion alive.
As the reality of the Coronavirus begins to set in, it’s not surprising that so many are reluctant to admit the truth. Most cons go undiscovered for a variety of reasons: some choose to go on believing that their loss was simply bad luck, while others cannot bring themselves to admit that they were hoodwinked.
After the final Coronavirus dots are connected, the ensuing response will go down as one of the most monumental cons of modern government, the corporate media, and the medical community. All with the express consent of the people.
